American Landscape with Mark Rothko, oil on canvas, 42″x26″.
American Landscape with Mark Rothko is a medium sized oil painting on canvas. It is a dreamlike scene of suburban Middle America. People are home, outdoor activities are taking place, an American Goldfinch is in the lower left. The dominant colors are red, white, blue and green. It also includes an image of cultural Marxist, Mark Rothko. He’s in one of the windows, painting. Can you find him? His tiny presence is an ironic comment on the importance (or lack thereof) of Internationalism or “Globalism” to American society.
A church is large in the middle ground. This painting stands in opposition to the “Globalist” ideology propounded by the wealthy elite who travel to Davos, Switzerland every year for the World Economic Forum. The New York artworld has been dominated by an Internationalist mindset since the 1980’s. However, an America First spirit is emerging. Young people (Gen Z) are returning to traditional churches, and family oriented life styles. They are collecting American art. Those cultural Marxists like Mark Rothko have lost their exalted status in the public mind if not on the auction block. The public is beginning to recognize the importance of an American identity.
